Internships

Find your way in our world

An internship at BNP Paribas represents a great way to find your way around the banking world, before committing to a career in it. You’ll learn, discover and get plenty of opportunities to prove yourself, as you’ll be working on live projects with real responsibility.

Whether you choose our summer or long-term internship, you’ll gain invaluable experience, as you develop the skills and understanding of what it takes to enjoy a successful career with us. You’ll not only benefit from a first-class training programme and working alongside a multi-skilled and collaborative team, you’ll also enjoy the dedicated support of our early careers team every step of the way.

Who knows, an internship could be your first step on the road to a successful career with us, as students who prove they have the ability and drive to go further will be invited to join our Graduate Programme.

Summer internships

What you’ll need

Our summer internships last 9 weeks and give penultimate-year students in-depth insight into BNP Paribas and a practical experience of working in our teams.

Throughout your time with us, you’ll either work in two different teams (giving you the chance to compare different experiences) or one team for the duration (giving you an opportunity to delve more deeply into your chosen area), depending on your programme. In addition, you’ll have opportunities to work shadow others to gain the exposure you need to make an informed decision about where your skills may lie. In parallel, you’ll participate in formal training, workshops, speaker series, and networking and social events. An initial week-long induction will set you up to hit the ground running.

Our summer internships are highly competitive and challenging, so to secure a place you’ll need to pass a rigorous selection process involving online psychometric tests and an assessment centre.

Key requirements:

  • On track for a 2:1 or equivalent in your Bachelor’s degree (can be a final year student if you have confirmation that you will be completing a masters the following year)
  • A degree in any subject – although Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Science, Business, Engineering and Computer Science are the most relevant
  • Analytical skills and mathematical aptitude
  • Determination and an inquisitive mind-set
  • A collaborative outlook

Long-term internships

Our long-term internships last between 6 and 11 months and target students on a placement year, or recent graduates who completed their studies less than a year ago. Long-term internships give you a detailed understanding of the investment banking sector and where you could fit in. They are a particularly useful platform for launching a long-term career with us.
